Customer Success – Deliverables Vs Results

The deliverables versus results conundrum is a productivity roadblock.
Very often project success for a vendor is determined by deliverables; such as the number of units sold, shipped or installed. Customer project issues often result from misaligned technology solutions, incorrect product selection, misunderstood business requirements or vendor misrepresentations.
Many product features promise to deliver product centric improvements. Examples of such improvements include increased speed, better integration or decreased product cost. These product centric deliverables very often do not align with customer success metrics.
Customer success is closely coupled with a quantifiable result, which improves or enhances a client condition. Examples of customer centric improvements expressed in quantifiable terms could be: increased corporate profits by 15%, decreased order fulfilment delays by 60% or reduced corporate communication expenses by 10%.
